The goal of this internship project was to design an one of a kind timepiece that could elevate Fossil’s brand awareness and values.
Market Research
Auto-inspired watches has always been a lucrative but competitive market. In order to differentiate ourselves, I wanted to design a watch that was inspired by modern, electric vehicles instead of traditional gasoline cars. Rivian was our natural choice when it came to collaboration.
User Persona
The watch is for the young professional who is intrigued by the future of technology and sustainability. He wants to own an EV later in his life for the economic benefits and the environmental impact to the world. He is sophisticated but also very hands-on and enjoys outdoor recreation. He prefers a watch that is sleek enough in a modern work environment and technical enough for his pastime activates.

The Fossil x Rivian watch is a modern, simplistic auto-inspired GMT timepiece that blends automotive innovation with timeless style. Reflecting Rivian’s commitment to sustainable design and adventure, the watch features sleek, refined aesthetic in a rugged 42mm brushed aluminum, puck-styled case. The hour markers and pusher mimic Rivian’s iconic pill-shaped headlights. Fossil’s sport series’ baton hand set is modified to merge with the modern dial while keeping the watch classic with polished finish details. To complete the design, the case pairs with a sporty, grooved sillicone band.
