Challenge
As 3D printing becomes more accessible and affordable, how might we leverage its customization features to design a wallet that supports users’ diverse use cases so that they can carry only what is necessary at any given time, enhancing convenience and relieving pocket space.
Competitor Research & Testing
I 3D printed a few popular designs from Cults3D and discovered 3 things that could be improved upon. First, despite the wide selection of wallets, they mostly look generic and work similarly. Second, the ones I tested were difficult to print properly as there were overhanging parts. Third, once the wallets were printed, the tested wallets were difficult to assemble due to tolerance issues.

Sketches & Prototyping
The development of the wallet had been a lot of back and forth between sketches and prototyping. It also involved iterations of testing to explore and refine function and form.
Final Prototype
The Form Wallet is printed with TPU so it has the flexibility of a leather wallet. The modular design enables it to be used minimally, with 3-4 card capacity, or up to 7-8 cards. It also has a simple flat construction with no overhanging parts for ease of printing.
The modularity of the Form Wallet allows different users to set up their wallets differently for different user scenarios.
Simple construction: with just two printed pieces, users can assemble the most minimal wallet setup. Simplicity and flexibility are the name of the game.
Custom Colors & Imprints: Available in a spectrum of TPU colors, personalized text imprints are also an option, adding a bespoke touch.
